Seller guidelines

Everything you need to know to list well, build trust with buyers, and grow your shop on Joda.

Listing standards

Do

  • Use clear, well-lit photos that show the outfit from multiple angles
  • Include accurate measurements — bust, waist, hips, and blouse size
  • Describe wear history honestly (worn once, gently worn, new with tags)
  • Respond to buyer inquiries within 48 hours
  • Keep your availability and pricing up to date
  • Mark listings as sold/rented promptly after completing a transaction
  • State what's included — blouse, dupatta, can-can, accessories
  • List your city accurately so local buyers can find you

Don't

  • Post items you don't own or have the right to sell
  • Use stock photos or photos from other sellers/boutiques
  • Misrepresent size, condition, color, or fabric
  • Ghost buyers after they inquire — decline gracefully if unavailable
  • Post the same item in multiple listings simultaneously
  • Promise alterations you can't deliver
  • Accept payment and then not deliver the item

Photo guide

Listings with 4+ photos and a size-reference shot get significantly more inquiries. Here's what to include.

Natural light

Shoot near a window or outdoors — fabric colors look most accurate.

Full outfit

Show lehenga + blouse + dupatta together, styled if possible.

Details matter

Close-up of embroidery, fabric texture, and any wear marks.

Size reference

Include a photo on a mannequin or worn — buyers need to visualize fit.

Honest flaws

If there's a stain, mark, or missing hook — photograph it. Trust is everything.

Why measurements are non-negotiable

South Asian sizing varies enormously — a “size M” from one brand is different from another. Buyers need real numbers. Listings with bust, waist, and hips measurements convert dramatically better.

B

Bust

Measure around the fullest part of the chest

W

Waist

Measure around the natural waistline

H

Hips

Measure around the fullest part of the hips

B

Blouse size

Your actual blouse measurement, not a label size

S

Skirt length

For lehengas — from waist to hem, in inches

H

Height range

e.g. "Best for 5'2 – 5'6"

Getting verified

Verified sellers get a trust badge on their storefront and listings. Every request is reviewed by a person, and verification is never automatic or bundled with a paid plan. To apply, your shop needs:

At least 3 active listings with photos and measurements

A completed storefront profile with bio, city, and seller type

An Instagram or social handle linked

No outstanding policy violations

Sellers can submit public business evidence from Dashboard settings. Never upload an ID, tax document, or private record.

Enforcement

These guidelines apply to all categories — whether you're selling a bridal lehenga, a graphic tee, or a pair of juttis. Violations may result in listing removal, temporary suspension, or permanent account termination depending on severity and history. We'll always reach out before taking action on a first offense. Fraud or safety violations may result in immediate removal.
